Summit NJ is a city in Union County in which many NYC commuters reside – the shortest commute scenario being approximately 45-50 minutes (if transportation is on schedule). Summit NJ has a population of 22-23 thousand, and occupies approximately 6+ sq. miles. Unlike Montclair, which has numerous town centers, Summit has one main active downtown strip, Springfield Ave, from which commerce branches out. Among Summit’s offerings are restaurants ranging from casual to upscale, and shopping ranging from apparel, decor, and specialty foods, to international brands. Summit NJ offers sports programs for youth including basketball, baseball, soccer and football through the recreation center and the Summit YMCA organizes sports clinics as well. There is no shortage of scenic appeal in Summit due to winding residential roads with gracious homes and verdant landscapes, an abundance of trees and numerous reserves and parks, including the Reeves-Reed Arboretum, a conservancy dedicated to environmental and horticultural education for children and adults, Briant Park, Hidden Valley Park, the Watchung Reservation and more. The housing stock is largely pre war – grand Victorians and Colonials with architectural variations. Summit NJ also offers some new construction. For a single family home, price points can range between $500,000 and $8,000,000 plus, with more inventory in the higher ranges than lower.
